About Me

Hello all and welcome to Flex & Function! My name is Wallace, and I specialize in helping you crush your fitness goals and achieve movement and functionality of your body you never thought possible! As a Certified Personal Trainer and Corrective Exercise Specialist, I focus most of my training on functional movement patterns and building a strong core & foundation. I’ve found honing in on these principles have provided great results for not only building strength and losing weight, but also increasing ROM, flexibility, ridding aches and pains, and overall improving your quality of life! 

The Longer Story:

All throughout my youth and high school years playing basketball, I suffered from a lot of knee pain and ankle sprains. For example, I was the high school kid playing with 20-30 year olds, wearing sophisticated knee braces not even the 50+ crowd had access to. Tragic. I was a little overweight, but most of my aches and pains were a result of diagnoses from childhood, blessing me with GAIT issues & postural dysfunctions as I grew up. These dysfunctions caused non-optimal movement patterns, muscle weaknesses & lack of proper recruitment, in turn, taking a toll on my body & causing me aches and pains. Being young & very active, there was no way I could let this get in the way of going outside and getting after it; of course the consequences always having to deep-freeze my knees, stretch for a couple hundred minutes before even thinking playing, or wearing military-grade exoskeleton style knee & ankle braces. I was resistant to seeing doctors, PT’s, or any type of trainers. But I loved resorting to Youtube for strength training videos and vertical leaping programs, unaware that my focus should have been re-training movement patterns, strengthening/training weak & inhibited muscles, and also stretching & lengthening those that were overactive; all things I would learn later in life. My motto through high school was “throw on a couple plates and see if we can do it.” Form was a foreign language to me...

Parallel Lines

Wallace was recommended to me for his challenging workouts and laid back coaching style.  His focus on functional strength training had major impact on rehabilitating my sports injuries in my hip and shoulder, and helping me come back stronger and more limber.  He blends challenge with encouragement, and communicates clearly with me as I continue to progress.  His fundamentals are impeccable.  I highly recommend!

Functional movement training with Wallace is amazing. Through stretching, strengthening and mobility exercises, my knowledge and awareness of my own body has vastly improved. Although functional movement seems to be commonly overlooked, I have found it to be the foundation to higher athletic performance as well as pain free, day-to-day living.
